This plant–rich courtyard by the coast was designed for a passionate gardener and a cook, it is fitted with an outdoor kitchen for entertaining.

The walls and kitchen units are finished in shiplap cladding in the local vernacular style.

The house dates from the 1700's and the original vaulted undercrofts are preserved beneath the garden. A 1940's concrete bomb shelter and outside WC were demolished to create the new space.

“Declan challenged us on some of our ideas (boy, are we glad he did) and built on others, he was sensitive to our requirement and came up with a solution which met our budget. The garden is now the centre of our life at our weekend home and is used and admired constantly, whatever the weather”
